Ha Giang is an imposing and naturally beautiful province in Northern Vietnam. In your Northern Vietnam group tour, Ha Giang is a very good choice because the mountainous charms in here are undeniable. Therefore, if you have a 4 days 3 nights tour, here are top destinations you should visit.
View from Quan Ba Heaven Gate
Dong Van may be the final and the most important destination among these three, but Quan Ba and Yen Minh are both interesting stops on the way from Ha Giang city to Dong Van in your Northern Vietnam group tour. And to get to Dong Van town, you will go through Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark which has a magnificent mountainous beauty that can take your breath away.
In Quan Ba, you can stop at the Cong Troi (the Heaven Gate) to take a closer look at the beauty of karst mountains and rocks in Ha Giang. Like its name, when you stand on the Cong Troi, you can see everything, from the terrace fields in Quan Ba, Quyet Tien, Thai An, Dong Ha to the whole view of Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark which is really imposing and breathtaking.
Yen Minh can be a resting stop where you can have a lunch. You can also visit a charming pine tree forest on the way to Yen Minh.
Dong Van ancient town
Finally, you get to Dong Van ancient Town which is the most well-known border town that you must visit in your group tour in Ha Giang. When you get to Dong Van Town, you will have the chance to see a small mountainous town with the Old Quarter area (Pho Co) located in the center of the town. The Old Quarter in Dong Van was built in the early 20th century by ethnic minority groups. You can see a lot of ancient houses made of clay which are quite unique. The local life in here still remains original with not too many tourism services. However, you can find some good-quality homestay and local food restaurants. And from the town, you can go trekking to the beautiful mountains around.
In your second day in Dong Van, you can visit H’mong King’s Palace which is an ancient architecture with a lot of cultural and historical values. In the 18th century, H’mong people in here had their own king and the king was recognized by Nguyen Dynasty. Therefore, the latest H’mong King Vuong Chinh Duc built a very majestic palace with unique architecture. The palace was designed based on 3 architectures: H’Mong, French and China.
Ma Pi Leng Pass
In the third day of your Northern Vietnam group tour to Ha Giang, you can visit Lung Cu flag tower which is the border point between Vietnam and China. To get to Lung Cu Flag Tower, you must walk on 283 rock steps. The flag tower is 33.15m in height; 3.8m in diameter. The tower body is carved with patterns of Dong Son bronze drum – the symbol of Vietnamese culture. Plug in the 12.9m Flagstaff is a national flag with an area of 54m², representing 54 ethnic groups of Viet Nam. At the foot of the tower, you can visit the commemorative house to see a lot of Vietnamese traditional crafts, products, and souvenirs. When you stand on the flag tower, you can have an amazing view of mountainous landscapes in both China and Ha Giang.
On the way you travel from Dong Van to Meo Vac, you go through Ma Pi Leng Pass. This 20 km long pass is called “the king of all passes in Vietnam”. It is a challenge for drivers to pass through because it has 9 curves on the precipitous mountain slope on the side road. However, the scenery is very beautiful and spectacular which amazes travelers. Your Northern Vietnam group tour will be more interesting if you can ride a motorbike on this pass.
Your final destination in your Ha Giang tour should be Meo Vac Town – a great place to discover local ethnic life. The most significant thing about Meo Vac is the Sunday Market. On every Sunday, minority peoples from surrounding mountains and areas come to Meo Vac to sell their products and buy their goods. They bring their pigs, horses, cows and even dogs to the market to sell. Coming to the market, you will feel so different from any markets that you have ever been visited. And it is an ideal place for you to explore the interesting culture of local ethnic people and take very excellent photos of people’s life.
Besides those destinations, if you travel to Vietnam in September or October, you should visit Hoang Su Phi – an amazing place to see immense rice terrace fields. Ha Giang still preserves an untouched and natural beauty that makes you feel overwhelming.
